What Luck!!!!!

So after my Fontana XC race on the 30th of March I began training for the Leadville 100 in Colorado. 10,000 feet to just under 12,600 feet in 50 miles and then back down again. Lots of long rides and a tone of XC events ignored. I'v had fun logging in all those miles and I have learned quite a lot. I learned that the folks of Beaumont love to drive up along side of you while your on your bike and tell you how fast your going. 4 different time this has happened and I laugh every time. Your also sure to see a horse or two using the bike lane and you also run into the droppings left behind. Yup, it happened too. http://www.leadvilletrail100.com/merchant.ihtml?id=1425&step=2

After I sent off the check/lottery entry to Leadville it was announced that Team Big Bear and Sho Air were putting on a 4 day stage race in Brian Head Utah. It will take place a week and a few days after Leadville and was excited to take part in this event too. Ouch! The price tag killed me. Yup, that race was over before it started for me. I continued to train for Leadville but every day I was thinking of Brian Head. None the less I was still very excited to race in Colorado and eger to get there. http://www.americanmountainclassic.com/Home_Page.html

Last Friday I was in the bike shop talking to Master Bicycle Mechanic Ben Parks and in walked fellow Team PossAbilities member Perry Burtch. Perry had signed up for Brian Head and was looking forward to going. Then Perry got the best news ever!!!!! His wife and daughter were finally coming home to the United States from Africa where they currently live!! Perry has been trying to bring his family here for over a year and now his dream is coming true. All of us that know Perry are very happy for him and can't wait to meet his wife and baby girl.

During our conversation of Perry's big day he told me that he wasn't going to be going to Brian Head because that was the time that his family was going to arrive. Then he asked me to race in his place!!! What, no way, are you serious, are the words that flew out of my mouth! First the kick ass news that his family was finally coming home and now this!!! At first I told him that there was now way I could pay him for his spot. He just smiled and said not to worry about it. Wow!!!!! THANK YOU PERRY!!!!!!!!!!

So now I not only to get to race Leavville and crush my lungs, I get to race in Brian Head and crush them again. And it get better folks. I was fully prepared to live in my car in the Brian Head resort parking lot because funds are scarce. Heck, I was going to be doing something I love so a few days in the car were a small trade off. However, when mom caught wind of this she booked me a room and wouldn't take no for an answer. I tried to turn it down and she wouldn't hear of it! So now I got a room to boot as well as 4 days of racing. THANK YOU MOM!!!!!!!!!!
