Beards, bikes and food

So I have let the whiskers on my face get a little on the long side and I have gotten mixed reviews. I have been told it makes me look older, scary, dirty, like a homeless person and my personal favorite, what the hell is that on your face??? Now that i'm thinking of it, I haven't heard one good thing about it from anybody.

The other nite at dinner I did find one fan of my beard. They said nothing, just walked up and licked my face, that single action made my beard worth it. Unconditional love from a stranger and all I had to do was show up with a harry face. Sweet!

Leslie and I made our way up to the local mountains and rode bikes with our friends Kelly and Ryan. Ryan's parents have a cabin up near Jeinks Lake and for the last half of our day we rode bikes, ate like pigs and drank like, well, drunks.... It was great fun. In all we only rode about an hour but it was a welcomed change to my normal grind of zooming heart rates and one the edge of death single tracks.

Next Wednesday morning I head out to Utah for the AMC. I'm ready as I can be and I so can't wait to be back up in the fresh air. Last week in Co. at the Leadville 100 I was exposed to the cleanest air and now i'm spoiled for life. I liked it so much I would even be willing to try a winter up there to see if I could make it our new home. Back on the home front that idea was vetoed in seconds flat. Sometimes I get a little excited and need to be put in check. I mean really, I can't stand the cold air coming out of the freezer in the kitchen.

Utah should be a blast. A funny change of events have taken place on the road to Utah.

  1. Free entry to race and living in the car for 4 days

  2. Free entry and a studio apartment for 4 days

  3. Free entry, studio apartment splitting cost with Big Chris

  4. Free entry, one bedroom apartment splitting cost with Big Chris and Mom

  5. Free entry, one bedroom apartment, Mom and Big Chris backing out and me paying for food and fuel

  6. Free entry, one bedroom apartment and now passably having Art splitting cost.... Maybe

Man this trip is already becoming quite the adventure and I havent even boght the forst tank of gas yet. All I know is that when I toe the line on the 21st it's going to be GO TIME!!
