25lbs ago!

I started racing, well ridding mountain bikes back in 2005. Before that I was in the triathlon seen ripping apart my knees. When I was racing Tri I thought I was super fit. I could run mile repeats in 5 Min's and I swam like a fish.

Today while looking in a box in the garage I found a picture of my first Mountain bike race. I noticed something, I was a big dude. Or am I still a big dude? I feel light and fast but I felt that way then too.. As I thought about it more my first idea was to stop eating. Well that's just not going to work because I love food way to much! Yea the lighter you are the faster you are, but at what cost? Today I weighed in at 185lbs. For me it's a real bitch to stay here. I remember at the end of 2006 I got down to 175lbs trying to beat Eric. We were racing Sport class!!!! Hello, what was I thinking?

Over the last few years I have learned quite a bit about training right and I have so much more to learn still. I'm still aware of my weight but now I look back on my good days. On these good
days I wasn't 175lbs. I don't stress on what I eat as much as I did back then. Bottom line I'm going to be competitive no matter what. When my front wheel is on the line and gun goes off I'm going to have a smart race and not one that starts with the hunger shakes.
I'm racing in Santa Barbara this weekend and I have one thing to say. Those feather weights better watch out!!!! LOL
